Amity Island Gifts, the “Jaws” gift shop at Universal Studios Japan, will permanently close next month.
Amity Island Gifts Closing
Amity Island Gifts will close on May 6, 2024. The space will become more seating for the adjacent Amity Landing Restaurant.
The “Jaws” ride, a.k.a. JAWS, will be unaffected. The ride opened with the park on March 31, 2001. The original version of the ride was an opening-day attraction at Universal Studios Florida on June 7, 1990. It was plagued by technical issues and closed a few months later. It reopened in 1993. It closed permanently in 2012 and the Amity Island area was turned into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley.
The full ride is an expanded version of the “Jaws” section of the Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood, which has been part of the attraction since 1976.
