More Pixar Fest decorations have gone up in Downtown Disney District, Disneyland Park, and Disney California Adventure as we approach the festival’s start.
Downtown Disney District
Three new retro sculptures have joined the “Coco” and “Toy Story” sculptures in Downtown Disney District. These are all white structures with a circular piece and two four-pointed stars. Characters are pictured on the circle and stars, against red, blue, and yellow backgrounds.
This “Monsters, Inc.” sculpture features Sulley on a red circle.
Mike is on a yellow star.
And Boo is on a blue star. This sculpture is near the temporary location of The Disney Dress Shop.
Outside Jazz Kitchen is a “Turning Red” sculpture.
Miriam and Priya are jamming out on a red star.
Abby is dancing on a blue star.
And Meilin Lee is pictured on the yellow circle in her red panda form.
The last new sculpture features “Cars” characters. It’s in a flowerbed outside the entrance to Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.
Mater is pictured on a blue star.
Sally is on a red star.
And Lightning McQueen is at the top on a yellow circle.
Disneyland Park
Over at Disneyland Park, there are some updates to the Fantasyland Theatre, which will host the Pixar Pals Playtime Party. Panels featuring the Pixar ball were installed recently. Crews have since painted the frames of the panels red.
They’ve also added yellow paint on the proscenium columns.
The African-inspired patterns from “Tale of the Lion King” are gone from the archway, or covered. The arch is now blue with a subtle diamond pattern and gold along the bottom edge.
New decorations hang from the lampposts lining Main Street, U.S.A.
There are long pennants with a striped gradient of red, yellow, and blue. At the top of each pennant is a medallion featuring a Pixar character.
These are grouped together by movie, with related characters next to or across from each other. For example, Mater is across from Lightning McQueen.
The medallions have red, yellow, or blue backgrounds. Their borders and character images are bronze-colored.
At the top of each medallion is a rectangle reading “Pixar Fest” with a picture of the studio’s iconic ball. The blue, red, and yellow color scheme is also based on the ball.
While the “Cars” characters are on red medallions, Eve and WALL-E are on blue medallions.
“The Incredibles” characters are on red medallions, matching the family’s supersuits.
Jessie from the “Toy Story” franchise is on a blue medallion.
Though the Pizza Planet truck is originally from “Toy Story,” its background color doesn’t match Jessie’s. Instead, it’s on a yellow medallion, likely chosen because the truck is yellow. It’s also the only non-character on these medallions because it is an Easter egg in every Disney film.
“Inside Out” emotions are also on yellow backgrounds.
We saw Fear…
…and Disgust.
Boo from “Monsters, Inc.” is on a blue medallion.
So is Nemo.
Wade and Ember from “Elemental” are across from each other on red medallions.
Luca and Alberto are on matching blue medallions.
Disney California Adventure
More striped pennants and character medallions are on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure.
Here, the medallions have silver borders and images.
We were immediately greeted by Joy and Sadness medallions.
Sulley and Boo were waving hello.
The Pizza Planet truck was also repeated.
Miguel from “Coco” is next to his dog, Dante.
Here, Elastigirl and Frozone were actually on blue medallions instead of red.
We also saw Woody and Jessie on red medallions.
Russell from “Up” is on a lamppost across from Elias & Company.
Dug is right outside the store.
WALL-E also made a repeat appearance.
Pixar Fest officially begins on April 26 and runs through August 4, 2024.
