Universal signage has been removed from the former Universal Legacy Store at CityWalk Orlando as the space is turned into an Epic Universe preview center.
Epic Universe Preview Center Construction
We took the above photo just over a week ago. The classic Universal globe logo was depicted on a sign on the right side of the building, over a decorative frame full of wood slats.
Just a few days later, the globe was gone. A balcony to the left, which previously also had a Universal globe sign, is gone too. A strip of black tarp is in its place below a door. The balcony and door were not accessible to guests.
There are also new elements on the building. Three metal supports jut out of the top of the front walls. There are squares of light blue sheathing on the walls around them.
Another strip of light blue sheathing is on the front corner, level with the former balcony location. There’s a nearby square of blue tape and another section of blue tape near the top of the wall.
The decorative frame that held the large Universal sign now has square and rectangular holes in it where the sign used to be.
The Universal Legacy Store closed in January, just a few months after we reported rumors that it would be turned into an Epic Universe preview center. Universal confirmed an “interactive” preview center would open in CityWalk this year. Epic Universe, the third Universal Orlando Resort theme park, will open in 2025.
