Sources indicate that the “Dr. Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts” show at Disney California Adventure will suspend performances at the end of June in the wake of Disneyland Resort entertainment Cast Members unionizing.

Dr. Strange Show Reportedly Being Cut

Club Pixar, a limited-time Pixar Fest offering, was the first entertainment offering to end, two months before scheduled. Disneyland Resort performers officially unionized with Actors’ Equity in May. The group, known as Magic United, represents about 1,700 character and parade performers. Most other Disneyland Resort Cast Members and Walt Disney World performers were already unionized.

“Dr. Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts” is performed in the Ancient Sanctum at Avengers Campus. The show stars Dr. Stephen Strange performing magic tricks for a small audience. Thor usually makes a cameo appearance, although other characters like America Chavez and Captain Marvel sometimes replace him to coincide with movie releases. The show also includes MagicBand+ interactions. The Ancient Sanctum has also been used for distanced or limited-time meet and greets.

More entertainment may be cut as union negotiations get underway. Hopefully, anything permanent like “Dr. Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts” will return after contracts are nailed down.
