The Hungry Bear Restaurant at Disneyland has closed for a major refurbishment, and it’s now been confirmed to receive a Country Bear Jamboree theme and new menu.
The restaurant will now be known as the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree and will feature music from the various iterations of the Country Bear Jamboree. The menu will be inspired by the “regional barbecue dishes the Country Bears discovered while on tour.”
This new re-theme comes right after the grand opening of the Country Bear Musical Jamboree in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. This updated version of the beloved show features country renditions of hit Disney songs such as “Try Everything” from Zootopia, “Kiss the Girl” from The Little Mermaid, and “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from Toy Story just to name a few.
The dining establishment formally known as the Hungry Bear Restaurant closed for “kitchen refurbishments” on July 8. It was unknown at the time that the restaurant would be receiving a re-theme and updated menu.
The areas surrounding the Hungry Bear restaurant including parts of New Orleans Square and the entirety of Critter Country have been undergoing refurbishment as well in anticipation for the opening of the new Haunted Mansion queue and gift shop, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Access to areas of the park past Harbor Galley are currently blocked off by construction walls and completely inaccessible to guests.
Country Bear representation has increased at the Disneyland Resort over the past few months, with a Big Al statue being placed in the Grizzly Peak area of Disney California Adventure back in May.
The Country Bear Jamboree opened at the Disneyland Resort on March 4, 1972. It was located in the space where The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh sits today. The attraction closed on September 9, 2001.
More information about the upcoming restaurant including its new menu offerings will be confirmed soon.
