Imagineering Files Permit for New Test Track Sets at EPCOT

Walt Disney Imagineering filed a new Notice of Commencement permit for the construction of Test Track 3.0 at EPCOT.

Rendering of the Test Track attraction at Disney's Epcot, with families and visitors entering the building. The attraction, which features Chevrolet signage and a futuristic design, seamlessly integrates state-of-the-art technology, ensuring it meets all required permits for safety and innovation.

The permit was filed on July 18, 2024. It contracts Jon Richards Company to “Install set elements” at 1440 Avenue of the Stars, the address of Test Track. Jon Richards Company, which was established in 1990, has worked on dozens of theme park projects, including at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney California Adventure, Tokyo DisneySea, and Universal Orlando Resort.

Disney most recently contracted Jon Richards Company to install new signage for Country Bear Musical Jamboree at Magic Kingdom. The permit referring to “set elements” implies they are installing scenery at Test Track.

The World Discovery attraction, which closed one month ago, is undergoing its second major transformation since it opened in 1998. The new version will take inspiration from World of Motion, the original EPCOT attraction that it replaced. Chevrolet is still sponsoring the attraction and some of their cars are on display outside during the reimagining. Check out our most recent construction update.
