The shrunken heads have been removed from their window in Knockturn Alley at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida.
The spell associated with the props has been deactivated, possibly related to the anticipated new spells and wands coming to Universal Orlando Resort.
Shrunken Heads Gone from Knockturn Alley
The dark Knockturn Alley is an offshoot of Diagon Alley, housing Borgin & Bourkes and some interactive spell locations. Several shrunken heads were previously in this window. They would tell jokes and sing until guests cast the “Mimblewimble” spell, forcing them to go silent.
The shrunken heads paid homage to the “Jaws” ride, which Diagon Alley replaced, by sometimes singing “Show Me the Way to Go Home” from “Jaws.”
Various props are still in the window, including a curtain, crates, and lanterns. The heads may not be gone permanently. It’s possible they are being refurbished and will return, maybe with a new spell.
Other changes indicating there will be new and updated spells in the Wizarding Worlds include updates to the infrared spell cameras, the installation of a new spell camera in Knockturn Alley, a new tent installed in Hogsmeade, and updates to the Owl Post window display. The rumored new interactive wands would reportedly connect to the Universal Orlando Resort app and track achievements, similar to Villain-Con Minion Blast blasters and Super Nintendo World Power-Up bands. The old interactive wands would still work but wouldn’t connect to the app.
These updates are rolling out before the opening of Epic Universe next year, which would have the new technology fully incorporated into The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter still has one shrunken head that guests can interact with at the Knight Bus outside Diagon Alley.
