On a recent ride on Mark Twain Riverboat, we discovered that the prerecorded audio now refers to Critter Country as Bayou Country, nearly three months ahead of the expected name change.
Bayou Country Replaces Critter Country
At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, it was announced that Critter Country would be renamed Bayou Country. The change was set to go into effect on November 15, 2024 and coincide with the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Disneyland Park.
However, on a recent ride on Mark Twain Riverboat, we noticed that the audio when passing by the land has been changed.
The current audio is as follows:
While you’re in Bayou Country, you might wanna grab a paddle and try your hand at the explorer canoes.
Previously, the prerecorded audio stated:
While you’re in Critter Country, you might wanna grab a paddle and try your hand at the explorer canoes.
Bayou Country remains closed while construction takes place on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The area will feature many changes when it opens to the public. The Briar Patch and part of Pooh Corner will become “The Princess and the Frog”-inspired gift shops and Hungry Bear Restaurant has been renamed Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree and will receive Country Bear Jamboree theming.
We shared a full tour of Critter Country before it closed on May 1, 2024. Check out our final tour of the land below.
