Vampires have taken over the Red Coconut Club at Universal CityWalk Orlando, turning it into the Dead Coconut Club for another Halloween Horror Nights season. This year’s Halloween club overlay takes inspiration (and actual props) from the Vamp scare zones of HHN past as well as Blumhouse.
Dead Coconut Club Featuring Blumhouse
Exterior
Blumhouse banners hang from the balconies of the Dead Coconut Club.
A Five Nights at Freddy’s photo op is next to the entrance. It features cardboard cutouts of Foxy, Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, and Chica.
A “Dead Coconut Club” banner hangs over the entrance. The club’s Halloween logo features vampire teeth in neon colors.
The same logo is in black on a red carpet leading into the club.
There are sheer white curtains around black and red outdoor seating.
First Floor – Lobby
The red and black color scheme continues inside.
There are two open leather-lined coffins for guests to take photos in. Tall red candles are sitting next to the coffins. A neon Dead Coconut Club sign is between them.
A column is wrapped in black leather.
The sofa in front of the column resembles a red pair of lips with two white fangs.
The fanged Dead Coconut Club logo appears inside, including on this podium.
The seating area to the right of the lobby, near the stairs, features red lighting and upholstery. The props on the walls are from the Vamp scare zones: Vamp ’55 (Halloween Horror Nights 26), Vamp ’85 (Halloween Horror Nights 28), and Vamp ’69 (Halloween Horror Nights 32).
There is a black leather jacket and a red guitar. The neon signs are not from a scare zone but match the vampiric decor.
The leather jacket is stained with blood. It was worn by a scare actor in Vamp ’55.
This red bullhorn is from Vamp ’55, too.
The studded vest reads “Dirty Rotten Imbeciles.”
There’s a News 18 microphone. Vamp ’85 was set on New Year’s Eve and one actor was a news anchor covering the party.
On the next wall is a black leather vest with a Blood Slayerz logo from Vamp ’69.
Above that is a pennant and marching band uniform from Vamp ’55.
There’s a Music Fest ’69 tee, also from Halloween Horror Nights 32. The Vamp scare zone had a Woodstock-like theme.
This “Giant Winged Bats of Europe” sign is a reference to this year’s Tribute Store.
There are two more neon decorations in the center, before the lounge.
Orange lights line two giant red wings set against a black background. There are red curtains on either side of the wings and silver candelabras at the sides of the display.
Blue lights line a pair of black wings.
Barcade
To the left of the lobby is a bar that has become a “barcade” with arcade games and a fake vending machine.
This game is called Fang Fighters. One vampire pictured on the side looks more like Dracula, while another is more goblin-like.
Unfortunately, the game is “out of order.”
Another game is Defender II. Ms. Pac-Man is in the corner.
A neon arcade sign is above two of the games.
The vending machine is also “out of order.” It’s stocked full of vampire snacks like coagulated blood, artery jerky, and blood clots.
The machine is lit with a red light.
A glass chandelier hangs near the bar.
There is a neon bat sign and a “Game Over” sign.
Behind the bar are candles, potions, and bats hanging from IV stands with blood bags.
The menu includes six specialty cocktails: Blood Moon Punch, Night Elixir, Immortal Thirs, Bleeding Eye, Daggered Lemonade, and Coffin Mojito.
We got the mocktail version of the Blood Moon Punch.
Decorative panels on the front of the bar feature bat-like shapes.
There are some warning signs next to the bar.
One reads “Absolutely NO sparkling is permitted on premises.”
There are some polaroids of people who should not be served.
Another sign reads “Please do not drink and fly. Ask your bartender to call you a hearse.”
Lounge
Between the bar and the central lounge are some chairs and tables around a fake window with red curtains.
An archway holds the “Blood Shower” — “Get soaked in 30 seconds of all-you-can-drink blood! The ultimate statement in VIP experiences.”
A tube of red blood wraps around the archway, connected to a showerhead at the center.
Another neon sign features red lips with fanged teeth and the words, “Bite Me.”
Red and blue lights illuminate the lounge.
A neon bat is on top of a structure with skull-covered paneling.
“Dead Coconut Club” is projected on the ceiling.
There are vintage TVs playing retro videos.
A coffin is displayed next to another fake window lined in neon lights.
Atop the coffin is a candelabra and black flowers.
Projections on the floor resemble coffins.
Candles in this display feature dripping colorful wax.
Another coffin is topped with a skull, jar, and candles.
The stools at this bar are red and black. The paneling on the front of the bar features coffin-inspired shapes.
Giant black bats with glowing eyes hang next to light towers.
There are some mummified people chained up inside cage, perhaps for future blood donations.
Glasses of bloody drinks are scattered throughout the seating area.
There are neon-colored skulls among the dark skulls on these panels.
A mannequin with vampire fangs and 1980s-style clothing holds a tray of drinks.
Next to the mannequin are blood blags of Dead Coconut Club’s “premium selection.”
On this small bar are more blood bags and shot glasses of blood.
A sign states the VIP Lounge is reserved for Vlad’s 300th birthday (and that “lyfe sux”).
This display of TVs also includes a stereo and stacks of themed cassette tapes.
These tapes are “Dirk & the 19 Torches,” “A Great Party Isn’t It,” “Tatiana’s Punkadelic Party Mix,” and “Naomi’s Slay Mix.”
More tapes are for “Jonathan + Elizabeth – wedding,” “Connor’s Lo-Fi Mix,” and “Sounds of [illegible] Music from a place in the summer.”
These cassettes harken back to Vamp ’85 and ’55 with “Best of 1981 Mix,” “Hollywood High Homecoming Parade 1955” and “Best of 1985 Mix.” There’s also “Bryan’s Broadway Demo Reel” and “Deb! She’s got a lot going on at the moment.”
One more tape is for “Lora and the Vamps.”
Band stickers advertise The Flaming Carrots, Iron Scorn, and Beast Baby.
The retro graphics on the TVs include the Dead Coconut Club logo.
Another caged human is looking worse for wear.
This mannequin isn’t mummified like the others but is lying still with a bottle in its hand.
In another reference to Vamp ’85, the bottle is a Dead Coconut Club Reserve “New Year’s Blend” from 1985. Nearby props also include a 1955 “Homecoming” blend.
More larger-than-life bats are around the human cage.
A couple more neon-painted skulls are atop a white column.
Behind this long bench are neon portraits of various vampiric figures.
Second Floor – Blumhouse
On the wall of the stairs is a light-up Blumhouse logo sign.
As guests walk up, they pass a decrepit wall with a “Blumhouse” projection.
At the top of the stairs is a short hallway featuring a wall of masks.
There is a bone knife encased in a glass case. A nearby crate is stamped with “Fragile.”
This space represents “Freaky,” the 2020 slasher comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton.
A mannequin is dressed like Vaughn’s Blissfield Butcher, complete with a spear and mask.
Straight ahead is another display for “Happy Death Day,” a 2017 Blumhouse flick starring Jessica Rothe and Israel Broussard. There are banners for Bayfield University and their mascot, the Bayfield Babies.
There’s a cardboard cutout of the Bayfield baby giving a thumbs-up.
More Bayfield memorabilia include pennants, #1 foam hands, a bullhorn, and cheerleader pom-poms.
In the center of the table is a “Happy Death Day” cake with a bloody knife stuck into it.
A suspect list includes the names Nick, Tim, Stephanie, Danielle, and Gregory.
There’s a creepy-looking Bayfield baby mask.
To the left, across from the upstairs bar, is a space dedicated to “The Purge.” There are signs reminding people emergency and law enforcement services will not be available.
A TV features the seal of the New Founders of America. A bloody chainsaw sits on a barrel.
A painted mask and a pipe sit on another barrel.
A motorbike dressed in string lights has knocked over a traffic cone.
A body wrapped in black tarps and red chains is draped over the bike.
The bike features a sticker reading “Purge or be Purged.”
There are mannequins wearing Purge gear like black hoodies and painted masks. A “Gone Purging” banner is on the back wall.
The wall around the display features chicken wire and fake ivy.
There are weapons like axes and baseball bats.
“M3GAN” is represented near the bar.
The murderous doll herself is in a glass display case. Maybe don’t get too close…
Various toys like a plush alligator, a colorful plush worm, a rabbit figure, an abacus, and foam puzzle pieces are included in the display.
Illuminated posters for each of the represented films, as well as the Blumhouse logo, are against a wall behind some tables and chairs.
The last display at the far end of the bar is dedicated to “The Black Phone.”
A mannequin dressed as the Grabber with a devilish mask is sitting in a chair against the back wall.
The wall is decorated with missing persons posters. Illuminated by a yellow-gold light is the titular Black Phone.
