Massive Drone Show Crowds at Disney Springs Caused Slow Paramedic Response Time

A pair of 911 calls to Disney Springs for the same incident has demonstrated paramedic teams’ less-than-ideal response time when it comes to arriving while large crowds descend on Disney Springs.

911 Call at Disney Springs

The incident took place during a recent evening following the end of the “Disney Dreams That Soar” drone show.

The initial call came from an unnamed Disney Cast Member for an incident near Salt & Straw and AMC Dine-In Disney Springs 24 theater, located on Disney Springs West Side.

The victim, an unnamed elderly woman estimated to be in her 70s, was reported to be drifting in and out of sleep though still conscious, and nearby family informed the Cast Member that she had heard surgery a few years prior but still had current issues of high blood pressure.

The operator on the call told the Cast Member to have someone retrieve an automated external defibrillator (AED) unit in the event it could be needed, and called paramedics to the scene. It took nearly 6 minutes for emergency medical technicians (EMTs) to arrive on the scene due to the massive crowds, at which the call ended.

A second call was also placed around the same timeframe from Bowes Signature Candles, also by an unnamed Cast Member. They were unable to reach the woman in distress, citing the aggressive crowd pushing following the drone show.

We don’t know more regarding the situation, but it is crucial that if you’re ever on Disney property and witness a person in distress, it is always best to report the incident to a nearby Cast Member and call 911 immediately.
