The Torture Faire and Swamp of the Undead scare zones at Halloween Horror Nights 33 continue to take shape, as more decor and theming have been added ahead of the event’s opening.
Battery Park
More trusses have been erected in Battery Park. We previously reported two screens and light fixtures had been installed in this area.
Stands made of the same metal material as the trusses have been installed beneath the green structure in Battery Park. Lights have also been installed above the middle stand. Black screens have been erected behind each stand.
The stands run along both sides of the structure, but you can’t see one side from the other because of the black screens. Each stand features a cutout with a countertop.
Swamp of the Undead
It’s been a while since we checked on the treehouse in the Swamp of the Undead scare zone. In our last update of the prop, there wasn’t much beyond the structure. Now, more minor details have been added.
The treehouse porch features a new creepy windchime that hangs above a decrepit wooden chair.
A closer look at the windchime reveals that most of the item is made from bones.
Clothes have been added to the clothesline on the side of the treehouse. While the clothes may be drying, they certainly aren’t clean.
If you’re looking for more Swamp of the Undead updates, we recently reported that an airboat had been uncovered in this scare zone.
First Haunted House Portal and Wait Time Sign
TV screens have been installed on a truss near Men in Black: Alien Attack. These screens will reveal the name and wait time of a haunted house when Halloween Horror Nights 33 begins on August 30. We don’t know which haunted house will be at this location yet.
Torture Faire
The Torture Faire scare zone continues to take shape, as even more torture devices and props have been added. In our last update, we discovered the Terra Cruentus symbol on a themed barricade. Perhaps the Terra Queen will make an appearance this year?
While the wooden thrones on the main Torture Faire stage aren’t new, we did notice new props hanging from the scaffolding near the top left portion of the stage.
These props include hooks and worn-out ropes which dangle from the edge of the wooden frame.
We also discovered a new “Ye Olde Torture Faire 2024” flag hanging off the side of a lamppost. The flag features two axes that cross each other, forming an x.
Another “Ye Olde Torture Faire 2024” flag depicts the outline of a knight’s helmet.
Another stage has received hay bales and wooden props. It also features a torture device called “The Breaking Wheel.” At this time, the breaking wheel is covered by a brown tarp.
A mallet and rope rest on top of a wooden crate next to the breaking wheel. Rats scurry behind the crate.
On the hay bale behind the crates, a black rat hides behind a metal container.
Ravens have been added to the top of the yellow and red sign at the top of the stage.
On the other side of the covered torture device, a mallet and rope lay on top of a wooden block. An overturned bucket sits in front of the box.
In front of Finnegan’s Bar & Grill, a stage depicts “The Brazen Bull.” Beneath the red and yellow sign on top of the wooden frame, a bull-shaped oven stands over a bowl of coals.
The contraption is bolted together and the bull wears a nose ring. The handle for the oven sticks out near the top of the bull’s back.
The final torture stage features a red and yellow sign that reads “Ye Olde Aim-n-Maim.” A colorful target sits above a hay bale covered in fruit and vegetables. Next to the target, a black tarp which is shaped oddly like a human body, hangs down from the top of the wooden frame.
Some of the fruit that has spilled out of one of the buckets is rotten and withering away. Next to the hay bale, two arrows sit inside of a bucket.
On one side of the stage, a rotten pumpkin and gourd sit on top of a small keg in front of a larger one. There is no plug in the bottom of the larger keg.
Sahara Traders
More props have been added to the display at Sahara Traders, the exit gift shop for Revenge of the Mummy. In our last update, the box on top of the “FathomCorp” crate was tied up. Now, it’s open.
Inside the box, a bat statue with glowing red eyes is surrounded by burlap and foliage.
The bat is a featured item in The Museum: Deadly Exhibits haunted house which is debuting at Halloween Horror Nights 33 this year.
A new newspaper clipping with the headline “Super Ants Threathen Snack Shops Worldwide” has been added to the collection as well. It sits next to a photograph showing a large hole in the ground.
A drawer is now open in front of the “Museum of Antiquities” poster. Inside the drawer are multiple books, a photograph, a memo, and a newspaper clipping.
One of the books is “Hamlet.” The photograph in front of it is black and white and features leaves and grass.
The newspaper clipping on the book behind “Hamlet” has a headline that reads, ” Collision at the Port Attributed to Superstitions.” The clipping describes flowers growing within the cargo hold of a ship.
A memo to “all museum staff” asks them to refrain from leaving half-opened deliveries in the museum due to theft.
Three more newspaper clippings have been stapled to the inside of a wooden frame. All three of the clippings feature bad news for residents of New York City.
One of the headlines warns “Giant Rats Terrorize Midtown Toilets and Pizzerias.”
Another headline reads “Continued Renovations at Current Museum and 5th Ave Stations Push Forward.”
The final headline explains that a “Local Warehouse Reopens After Roof Collapse Repaired.”
A Quiet Place Food Booth – Sting Alley
A new food booth has been added outside of Sting Alley. It’s next to two red structures that are shaped like the sides of a barn. Both structures feature red doors with white trim.
The food booth features a “Lennox Steel” logo, a reference to “A Quiet Place.” Steel has taken over some of the design inside the red frame, though some brown paneling is still there.
We went down Sting Alley to explore other food booths and props throughout the location. We turned back to see the “Pardon our Dust” sign sitting between the two red barn-like structures.
Further down the alley, a wooden facade has been erected. It’s brown with white trim and a white window.
Next to the facade is a red and white booth. The bottom of the booth is designed to look like a dresser with drawers.
Inside the white frame at the top of the booth is a collage of images, coupons, and magazine clippings.
This location will serve sangria. Two containers are wrapped in plastic on a ledge in the back of the booth. One of the containers will serve “Sangria Rosado” and the other will serve “Sangria Blanco.”
As we continued through Sting Alley, we discovered another food booth. This one is also brown with white trim. The serving counter once again depicts a dresser, but this one has twice as many drawers as the sangria booth. A white curtain blocks the window.
At the end of Sting Alley, a red fence has been erected. Gray paint reads, “Be Quiet!! Exit Only.”
Dead Coconut Club
Banners have been hung from Red Coconut Club, as the location begins its transformation to Dead Coconut Club.
Two black and light blue Blumhouse banners hang on long stretches of balcony on the second floor of the club. Two blue “Dead Coconut Club” banners hang from the circular balcony above the Red Coconut Club marquee.
The “Dead Coconut Club Featuring Blumhouse” banners are blue. The crossed t in “coconut” drips blood. “Coconut” is also underlined. Two fangs hang off the bottom of the underline.
The top of the banner features a set of blue and red teeth open in front of a trapezoid design. Blue blood drips from a few of the top teeth.
World Expo
The Expo Circle food trailer has been added to its usual location. The blue trailer has two windows. Silhouettes of peaks from around the resort are gray against the light blue backdrop. These peaks include the Pharos Lighthouse, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, and Krakatau.
Black condiment stations have been added next to the trailer.
To the left of the trailer’s large window, there are three posters representing each of the three theme parks at Universal Orlando Resort and food found at each. The “Enjoy Beautiful Volcano Bay” poster features a cheeseburger, wrap, and sushi. The “Universal Studios Florida” poster features tacos, pizza, and fish and chips. The “Islands of Adventure” poster features french fries, a gyro, and a chicken sandwich.
