Guest transportation via boat between Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has returned after a short refurbishment.
Grand Floridian Boat Dock Reopens
Boat transportation between the resort hotel and Magic Kingdom was initially suspended on September 9, 2024, while work was being done on the dock. The “gold route” boats still ran between the park and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, just skipping the usual stop at the Grand Floridian.
Work was expected to be completed by Saturday, September 14. It’s possible the refurbishment finished on time, but Friday was the first day we visited the Grand Floridian to see if the boat was operating.
We didn’t notice any major changes to the dock, which was to be expected after such a short refurbishment. It’s likely the closure was just for basic maintenance.
While the dock was closed, guests were encouraged to take the walking path between Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom or utilize alternative transportation, like the resort Monorail.
Magic Kingdom Boat Transportation
Boat service using ferries and water taxis is available to transport guests between the Magic Kingdom and select locations.
Ferries shuttle guests between the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) and Magic Kingdom.
Water Taxi Routes
Water taxi service is used between the park and several area resorts. The options are indicated by a colored flag on the boat, listed below with each stop on the route.
Gold route: Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Blue route: Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Red route: Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Green route: Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

Encouraged? Did Disney write this? The proper phrasing is you could either get to the park a different way or you could just not go there.
