The Disneyland Railroad has reopened with updated Bayou Country narration including reference to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

Disneyland Railroad Updates

A person operates the vintage-style green and red train engine named "Fred Gurley" on the Disneyland Railroad track, surrounded by trees. The enchanting narration brings each journey to life, reminiscent of adventures like Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

As guests pass through Bayou Country (formerly Critter Country), this is what they hear:

We’re now entering the bayou, home to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! Take a sneak peek at the big party princess Tiana’s throwing, where the welcome is warm, the music is hot, and the company is sweet as honey.

And when it comes to sweetness, the inhabitants of the land we’re passing over are the bee’s knees. Here in bayou country you can join Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Louis the Alligator, and other beloved critters on their fun-filled adventures.

As we steam past the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, we’re now joining up with the Rivers of America and entering the frontier as it looked more than a century and a half ago.

Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree, a Country Bear-inspired reimagining of the Hungry Bear Restaurant also opened today.

The narration guests have heard since May 2023 (after Splash Mountain closed) stated:

We’re now entering the bayou, soon to be home to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Princess Tiana swears there’s magic out here, and wherever there’s magic, there’s bound to be surprises. Blue skies and sunshine guaranteed. Speaking of surprises, this place we’re passing over is chock full of them.

Speaking of surprises, this land we’re passing over is chock full of them! Here in Critter Country, you can join Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and other beloved critters on their fun-filled adventures.

As we steam past Hungry Bear Restaurant, the last outpost in these parts, we’re now joining up with the Rivers of America, and entering the frontier as it looked more than a century and and a half ago.

And prior to Splash Mountain closing, the narrator said:

We’re now entering Splash Mountain, rumored to be the location of the one and only Laughin’ Place. If you look real hard, you just might find it. It’s where critters are celebrating a “zip-a-dee-doo-dah” day.

Speaking of critters, this place we’re passing over is home to a whole bunch of them. Here in Critter Country, you can join Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Br’er Rabbit, and Br’er Bear on their fun-filled adventures.

The New Orleans Square station is still closed but when entering the area, the narration announces “This is also your stop for Adventureland, Frontierland, and Bayou Country” instead of Critter Country.

A whimsical stage scene reminiscent of Tiana's Bayou Adventure unfolds with large animal figures and performers in colorful costumes set against a decorated house backdrop.

The window looking into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has not been opened yet as the ride is still in previews. The window will be uncovered when the ride officially opens on November 15. Check out our full Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue tour and ride POV.

In a scene reminiscent of Tiana's Bayou Adventure, a black panther elegantly strides across a rock in the forested area, where tall trees and dense foliage bask under the bright sunlight. It feels like nature's own Disneyland Railroad, offering an incredible journey through untamed beauty.

There are also updates to the rest of the railroad’s scenes. Between Main Street, U.S.A. and New Orleans Square, a panther figure has been moved back to its rock. Since early 2018, the panther was off the rock and behind a tree, allegedly due to guests trying to touch it. Lending prudence to this fact is that the panther is still pretty far back on the rock — further back than it was in 2017.

Between New Orleans Square and Toontown is a new trestle bridge over the Rivers of America.

The entire span of track has been replaced between Toontown and Tomorrowland. There is also new greenery under the Monorail track.

Two large dinosaur models with elongated necks stand in a prehistoric-themed exhibit beside the Disneyland Railroad, surrounded by plants and a cloudy backdrop. One dinosaur holds greenery in its mouth.

The final updates are in the Primeval World diorama on the last leg to Main Street. Lighting and projections in the tunnel were upgraded. Other effects received TLC. The rubber face of the Brontosaurus has been fixed (it previously had a gash in its jaw). The spitting effect has also been restored.

According to a lead Cast Member, this was the first of four three-month refurbishments planned for the railroad in the next year and a half. During these refurbishments, the entire track will be replaced.

Currently, three engines are running on the Disneyland Railroad. The railroad has rarely operated at full capacity since an overnight fire damaged the New Orleans Square station in December 2022.
