The new Broken Spell Lounge inspired by “Sleeping Beauty” opened at Disneyland Hotel this week. Open from 4 p.m. to midnight daily, the lounge offers cocktails and bites, which we’ll review later.
Broken Spell Lounge
Signs in the lobby near the lounge advertise live entertainment at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8 p.m. The signs feature an image of a dark forest with purple and blue flowers — a design you’ll see continue inside the lounge.
The dark green menu features trees and golden lettering.
The menu lists specialty cocktails, flights, barrel-aged drinks, wines, beers, and cuisine.
The lounge is surrounded by fake planters with stylistic flat white trees resembling the background foliage in “Sleeping Beauty.”
Look closely and you’ll find hidden Mickeys not only in these fake bushes but throughout the lounge.
Broken Spell Lounge replaces the Steakhouse 55 bar. In the corner is the former entrance to the table-service restaurant, repainted to match the new lounge. Blue curtains hang in the doorway.
The bar is dimly lit with soft lights, including orbs hanging from the ceiling. Most of these lights are a warm orange color, but three stand out.
Around the bar are a trio of blue, red, and green lights representing Princess Aurora’s fairy godmothers: Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather.
The lounge seating includes black chairs with textured backs in front of low circular tables. There is a small lamp on each table.
There are also velvet green armchairs and dark sofas. The walls are covered in a forest mural straight out of “Sleeping Beauty.”
Green lights hidden behind plants add to the magical ambiance.
This wall near the bar features the flowers from the sign. A blank black panel appears to be for a menu to eventually be displayed.
The bar has a black top. The front is illuminated with yellow lights.
Each cushioned barstool has a unique forest design on its back.
The carpeting is a mottled green design reminiscent of the forest floor.
