Walt Disney World Reopening After Hurricane Milton

Cinderella Castle at Walt Disney World stands majestically, surrounded by lush gardens and elegant statues, under a cloudy sky as the resort reopens after Hurricane Milton.

Park passes to visit Magic Kingdom today are fully booked for all guests, but those with theme park tickets can still make reservations to visit EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

At the time of publication, park reservations are no longer available for Annual Passholders to any of the four parks today, October 11.

Walt Disney World confirmed its operating hours for today, which are:

  • Magic Kingdom: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with early entry at 7:30 a.m.
  • EPCOT: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with early entry at 8:30 a.m.
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios: 9 p.m. to 9 p.m., with early entry at 8:30 a.m.
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with early entry at 7:30 a.m. Extended Evening Hours will run from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Walt Disney World Resort closed in phases on Wednesday, October 9, and remained closed through Thursday, October 10 for Hurricane Milton, which made landfall on Wednesday, October 9.

Resorts operated as normal through the hurricane, but Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, the Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa closed at 11 a.m. on October 9 and remain closed for the time being.

We visited the park on October 9, just before Magic Kingdom closed at 2 p.m., and saw Cast Members hard at work preparing for the incoming severe weather.

Other operational changes at Walt Disney World for the hurricane included paused hotel reservations for October 9 and 10, blocked-out park reservations for October 9, and waived cancellation and change fees for resort reservations, with three separate extensions.

Walt Disney World has reportedly lost an estimated $547 million due to hurricanes.
