A wind advisory is now in effect for the Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort areas following Hurricane Milton making its way through the State of Florida.
Wind Advisory for Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando
The wind advisory was issued this morning at 10:53 a.m. ET by the National Weather Service, and includes Orange and Osceola Counties, where Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort are located.
Northwest winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 40 to 45 miles per hour.
The advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, October 10. Expected impacts are gusty winds that will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may occur as a result.
Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort are both closed today due to Hurricane Milton, and are expected to reopen tomorrow, Friday, October 11, though neither have shared a confirmed update that this is the plan.
For Walt Disney World, this closure includes all four theme parks, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park, and the two miniature golf courses. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been cancelled for tonight, and event tickets have been refunded. At Universal Orlando, Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, Universal Volcano Bay water park, and Universal CityWalk are closed.
Walt Disney World lifted its shelter-in-place advisory for resort guests this morning, following crews assessing the damage from Hurricane Milton.
Stay tuned for more operational updates for both resorts in the wake of Hurricane Milton.
