Cast Members have officially been named the godparents of the new Disney Treasure Cruise Ship.

The Disney Treasure, a grand cruise ship with distinctive red and black funnels, sails smoothly through calm waters under a blue sky, while cast members eagerly prepare to welcome guests onboard.

As part of tradition, each ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet has a “godparent,” an honorary role that is often filled by an individual. The Disney Wish changed that a little by naming Make a Wish recipient children as the godparents.

The post’s caption reads, “Drum roll, please! The honorary role of godparent of the #DisneyTreasure will be held by The Walt Disney Company cast, crew, Imagineers, and employees around the world.”

The godparent is usually involved in the Christening ceremony, where they’ll participate in a blessing of the vessel.

Disney CEO Bob Iger made the following statement:

“At the core of everything we do at Disney are the dedicated Cast Members and employees who create the magic that brings joy to millions of people around the globe. That’s why we are proud to honor all Disney employees as the godparents of the Disney Treasure. This is our way of paying tribute to the dreamers and doers who continue to tell our stories in the most compelling and innovative ways.”

The godparents of the other ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet are:

  • Disney Magic: Patricia Disney
  • Disney Wonder: Tinker Bell & Mickey Mouse
  • Disney Dream: Jennifer Hudson
  • Disney Fantasy: Mariah Carey
  • Disney Wish: Make-A-Wish children

Godparents have not been named yet for the upcoming Disney Destiny or Disney Adventure.

The Disney Treasure will set off on its maiden voyage on December 21, 2024. For more about the ship, check out everything we know so far.
