‘Moana 2’ Artwork Now on Display at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

“Moana 2” concept art and maquettes are now on display at Walt Disney Presents in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Poster for "Moana 2" depicting animated characters on a beach under a pink and blue sky, with palm trees and an ocean backdrop.

Artwork for the upcoming film is in the lobby area of the movie theater, at the end of the gallery. A large “Moana 2” poster featuring the main characters is on one wall. In this film, Moana assembles a crew and reunites with Maui to break a curse.

Exhibit display featuring "Moana 2" promotional materials, including character figurines and movie posters in a glass case, in a carpeted room.

Concept art and maquettes are in a display case in the lobby’s center. A sign reads:

Three years after Moana sought to discover how far she could go, she now seeks to reconnect all the people across the entire ocean. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana journeys alongside Maui, Pua, Heihei, and a new crew into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.

This case highlights some of the beautiful art from the film’s creation — including visual development artwork, character maquettes, and key moments from the final film.

A maquette is a 3D model of a character or other figure for animators to use as a reference. Maquettes of Moana and Maui are on this side of the case. Moana is voiced by Auli’i Cravalho and Maui is voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, both returning from the first film.

The concept art on the wall behind the maquettes includes depictions of Maui and Moana. One piece puts them in the style of Maui’s tattoos.

Display featuring Polynesian-inspired art and figures, including a tapestry with two figures, an island painting above, and character models below.

There is artwork of a small island with Moana’s outrigger on the beach. Another piece features five characters. Three are Moana’s new crew members and two are her parents. Moana also has a baby sister in this film.

A display featuring artwork and a sculpture from "Moana," including scenes and characters like Maui and Moana, with tropical decor.

Another piece seems to depict the fleet of Kakamora ships in front of a giant scallop. You can see its eyes and tentacles when looking up close.

Exhibit showcasing "Moana 2" includes illustrated scenes, character sketches, a figurine, and a release date sign for November 27.

Maquettes of Pua and Heihei, Moana’s animal companions, are on the other side of the case.

Heihei is a rooster voiced by Alan Tudyk and Pua is a pig. The artwork behind these two maquettes includes a couple more images in the style of Maui’s tattoos.

Artwork displayed in a glass case, featuring oceanic and island themes in a traditional style, with people in a canoe and a mountainous island scene.

One of these pieces depicts a fleet sailing away from Motunui, Moana’s home island. The other shows Moana, her crew, animal friends, and a Kakamora on a small sailboat.

Display of three black and white animal sketches and a ship sketch, with vibrant tropical flowers in the foreground.

There are sketches of Pua and Heihei messing around, as well as a full-color sketch of the Kakamora fleet. The Kakamora are small creatures that wear coconut armor.

Art display featuring a painting of a boat with a whale shark and a vibrant scene of a person on a rocky cliff at sunset.

The artwork at the top shows Moana on her outrigger looking down at a glowing spirit whale. The last piece shows her blowing a conch shell atop a mountain, with birds flying around her.

Walt Disney Presents is currently still showing an “Inside Out 2” sneak peek but we expect it to change to a “Moana 2” preview soon. “Moana 2” is in theaters on November 27.
