Crews have started installing the ice skating rink for “Glisten!,” a new skating show coming to Disney Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
‘Glisten!’ Ice Skating Rink for Disney Jollywood Nights
The rink will be on the low stage in front of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway on Hollywood Boulevard. It will be performed several times throughout the evening during the separately-ticketed after-hours event. Disney stated international champion skaters will perform to a holiday soundtrack of original songs and Disney classics like “Be Our Guest” and “When You Wish Upon A Star.”
Currently, a large white tarp featuring the “Glisten!” logo is across the stage, presumably covering the skating surface. We don’t know if any real ice will be involved in the ice skating show.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios previously offered real ice skating to guests a decade ago, during Frozen Summer Fun, but this rink won’t be open to guests.
The flowerbed in front of the stage has new plants. A few plants around the edge of the tarp cover sandbags that hold the tarp down. There are also pieces of plywood taped on the stage beneath the sandbags, with wires running around the space for lights.
Disney Jollywood Nights is a five-hour event on select nights from November 9 to December 21, 2024. Other entertainment offerings include “Disney Holidays in Hollywood” featuring Kermit and Miss Piggy, “What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along” featuring a giant Jack Skellington puppet, “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” fireworks, Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club, Holiday Fiesta en la Calle, and Pixar Disco. There will be rare character meet and greets, a “Muppet Christmas Carol” photo op, special food and beverage items, exclusive merchandise, and complimentary champagne-flavored marshmallows for every guest.
