REVIEW: Worlds of Marvel Restaurant Menu for Groot Remix Dinner on the Disney Treasure Fails to Avenge Previous Mistakes

Katie Francis

Experience a four-course meal that transports you to worlds of marvel: start with pea soup featuring savory meatballs, enjoy a salad with mozzarella and tomatoes, savor the beef Wellington accompanied by vegetables, and delight in a layered dessert with strawberries and cream.

Since the Disney Treasure sails longer voyages than the Disney Wish, guests visit some of the rotational dining venues more than once. For the second night at Worlds of Marvel, the dinner show is the Groot Remix (Celebration of Heroes) and a new menu.

Interior

Worlds of Marvel on the Treasure is identical to the Wish. There is no difference in decor for the Celebration of Heroes.

Dinner Show

A family of four dines together in the vibrant, brightly lit room of Disney Treasure, immersed in the magic of Worlds of Marvel. As they enjoy their meal, Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy appears on a screen behind them with a cheerful message that reads "Incoming Transmission.

In the new show, guests are here for the Celebration of Heroes, which is interrupted and taken over by Groot, who wants to turn the party up a level. See photos and more information (including spoilers) from our preview.

Bread Service Reviews

Six-Grain Country Bread

with Caramelized Onion Dipping Sauce

The bread service was good, though a little hard — which is not unusual for Disney Cruise Line.

A dollop of creamy sauce garnished with chopped chives on a white plate, reminiscent of a Marvel Heroes Menu special.

The caramelized onion sauce was a little sweet, but we think it complimented the grain-heavy bread well.

Appetizer Reviews

Heirloom Tomato Caprese

Buffalo Mozzarella, Heirloom Tomatoes, Basil, Arugula, and Aged Balsamic Dressing

Experience the Marvel Heroes Menu with a Caprese salad featuring sliced tomato, mozzarella, arugula, and balsamic glaze on a white plate with a decorative border. Perfect for any Groot Remix Night.

We mostly just taste balsamic in this dish. The mozzarella cheese is very low quality and tastes like nothing. The tomato is like what you’d find on a counter-service hamburger. Overall, this dish is pretty basic.

Porcini Sacchetti

Porcini Mushroom, Swiss and Fontina Cheese, Garlic, Thyme, and Proescco Wine Sauce

Ahi Tuna Poke

Ginger, Wakame, Bonito Flakes, Sesame Seeds, Avocado, Cucumber, Green Onions, Radish, and Cilantro

A bowl of tuna poke with sliced radishes, cucumbers, and chopped green onions, as vibrant as a Marvel Heroes menu special.

The ahi tuna is good quality but not super flavorful. That being said, the accompaniments do a lot of heavy lifting and bring the taste of the dish up a notch. It’s nice and refreshing overall, despite our avocado being not so fresh.

Malaysian Chicken Satay

Kecap Manis, Coconut Rice, Cucumber, and Roasted Peanut Dipping

Enjoy a Marvel-inspired feast with grilled chicken skewers on rice, served alongside two delightful dipping sauces, all presented on a textured gray plate. Perfect for fueling up before your Groot Remix Night adventure!

We liked the chicken better without the roasted peanut dipping sauce, as it has a nice flavor on its own. Both the chicken and rice are well-cooked. That being said, both are offered as a small portion.

The peanut sauce almost tastes like straight-up peanut butter, and is a bit too sweet for our liking but not offensive. The cucumber chutney is very vinegar heavy, but it’s a good contrast up against the sweetness of the rest of the dish.

Plant-Based Vegetarian Potstickers

Sweet and Sour Sauce, Pineapple, Onion, Bell Pepper, and Ginger (Allergy Menu)

Three dumplings on a bed of mixed diced vegetables in a red sauce on a white plate, perfect for savoring while enjoying stories of Marvel Heroes or during a Groot Remix Night.

Our dish wasn’t super warm when we received it at the table. The chutney is good, and the exterior of the potstickers is a bit doughier than it should be. This dish isn’t offensive, but it’s not bursting with flavor.

Salad Reviews

Dill-Lemon Marinated Shrimp Salad

Globe Radish, Yukon Gold Potato, Sweet Green Peas, Scallions, Baby Leaf Spinach, and Flat Parsley-Champagne Dressing

Iceberg Wedge Salad

Feta Cheese, Kalamata Olive, Cucumber, Red and Yellow Grape Tomatoes, and Yogurt Mint-Lemon Dressing

From the Kettle Reviews

White Cheddar Broccolini Soup

Crisp Dark Pumpernickel Crouton

A bowl of green soup, themed as part of the Marvel Heroes Menu, is topped with croutons on a white saucer, placed on a table next to a spoon.

This soup looks just plain gross. There’s not much to the pumpernickel croutons. Overall, it’s quite bland, and the only flavor that comes through is the pepper on the filmy top layer.

Rating out of 7: 2

Lobster Bisque

Lobster, Tarragon, White Wine, Cognac, Cream, Tomato, and Chives

A bowl of creamy tomato soup garnished with white drizzle and herbs, reminiscent of the Marvel Heroes Menu. It rests elegantly on a white plate with a decorative design.

We love this soup, it’s very rich and creamy. There are huge chunks of lobster in this, and those chunks do not taste overly fishy.

Entrée Reviews

Linguini Nero

Garlic Shrimp, Malabar Spinach, Roasted Grape Tomatoes, and Parmesan Reggiano

A plate featuring shrimp, black pasta, cherry tomatoes, and greens is served on an Avengers-themed dish as part of the Marvel Heroes Menu, bringing a touch of super-fueled flavor to your dining experience.

We normally love squid ink pasta, but it’s pretty salty here. The garlic shrimp isn’t too fishy in taste, and is cooked well. Sadly, this is yet another bland dish for Worlds of Marvel.

Rating out of 7: 3

Tamari and Honey Glazed Salmon Filet

Teriyaki Soba Noodles, Baby Bok Choy, Lime, and Toasted Sesame Seeds

Wild Mushroom & Sweet Onion Strudel

Sautéed Wild Mushrooms, Sweet Onions, Baby Spinach, Marinated Tofu, Procini Dusted Phyllo Pastry, and Basil-Parsley Dressing

Roasted Marinated Peri Peri Chicken

Long Green Beans, Honey Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Charred Bearss Lime, and Peri Peri Sauce

Grilled chicken breast with tomato sauce, green beans, carrots, and a lime half on a white plate. Garnished with cilantro for a Marvel Heroes Menu touch.

This is the most seasoned thing we’ve eaten, but it’s basically marinara sauce. The spice is on the mild side, akin to Olive Garden. There is a slight kick but not overwhelming. The chicken is cooked well, the skin has a nice flavor, and overall, it’s not a bad dish.

Rating out of 7: 4

Dijon Herb-Crusted Rack of Lamb

Zucchini, Tomato, Bell Pepper Piperade, Thyme Cocotte Potatoes, and Rosemary Zinfandel Reduction

Plant-based Soba Noodle Bowl

Miso, Ginger, Soy Beans, Tempeh, Bok Choy, Green Onion, Carrots, Lemon Grass, and Chili-Cilantro Avocado Oil

A bowl of vegetable ramen with bok choy, carrots, mushrooms, edamame, and red peppers, garnished with cilantro—a dish truly worthy of the Marvel Heroes Menu.

This noodle bowl is just okay. It is a little bland, like much of the other fare here, but filling. We were concerned about the broth but it does offer a bit of flavor to the overall dish.

Rating out of 7: 4

Beef Wellington

Beef Tenderloin, Crepes, Mushroom Duxelle, Puff Pastry, Fingerling Potatoes, Baby Vegetables, and Cabernet Jus

A plate featuring a Disney Treasure of flavors: beef Wellington, roasted potatoes, broccoli, zucchini, and a carrot with sauce.

This is a huge portion of beef Wellington. It could use some seasoning… like, any seasoning. This is the blandest mush we’ve ever eaten in our entire history of reviewing food. It’s all texture and no flavor. We’d suggest using a lot of salt and pepper to get through this dish.

Dessert Reviews

Chocolate Decadence

Bitter Chocolate Cream, Truffle Cream, Chocolate Sauce

This exquisite plated dessert, inspired by Disney Treasure, features a rectangular chocolate mousse adorned with decorative spheres and a patterned chocolate piece. A delightful chocolate dollop accompanies this marvel of gastronomy.

This kind of looks like a chocolate Twinkie. It’s super basic, but not in a bad way. It’s a well-executed, not-too-sweet chocolate dessert. It’s super light and fluffy, and we think it makes for a good option if you’d rather avoid a heavier treat at the end of your meal.

Rating out of 7: 6

Orchard Peach Tart

Almond Peach Tart, Vanilla Sauce, Dulce de Leche Ice Cream

Double Blueberry Cheesecake

Blueberry Cheesecake, Lemon Shortcrust, Blueberry Glaze

Celebration Cake

Baked Cheesecake, Fresh Strawberries, Pastry Cream, and White Chocolate Glaze

A slice of layered dessert with cream, topped with pink icing, served with strawberries, a chocolate stick, and whipped cream on a patterned plate, reminiscent of the whimsical treats from the Marvel Heroes Menu.

While this baked cheesecake is initially nice and soft, we struggled attempting to chrew through the center, which tasted and reminded us of a Fruit Roll-Up. This center is not quite the texture you want it to be, and is crunchy rather than soft and chewy. It’s possible that it could be real strawberry, but there’s something off about it. The cheesecake flavor is off as well.

Overall, this is weird and bad. Please don’t get this.

Rating out of 7: 2

No Sugar Added Cappuccino Mousse

Cappuccino Chocolate Crème and Raspberry Coulis

Dessert shaped like a cube with a red center, placed on a plate with swirled chocolate sauce, featured as part of the Disney Treasure's exclusive Marvel Heroes Menu.

This is delightful. The cappuccino flavor is nice and not overpowering.

A square dessert with powdered sugar and a red jelly-filled center, reminiscent of a treat from the Marvel Heroes Menu, on a plate drizzled with chocolate sauce.

The coulis compliments it well. It’s light and enjoyable, we like it a lot. The presentation is also great.

Marvel Sundae

Chocolate Ice Cream, Chopped Chocolate Wafers, Chocolate Sauce, and Whipped Cream

Lemon Sorbet (Allergy Friendly/Vegan Option)

A scoop of sorbet in a glass dish on a patterned plate, placed on a white tablecloth with dim lighting, reminiscent of the Marvel Heroes Menu.

This is tart, but good. It’s not anything crazy, and obviously very lemon forward. We find it to be crispy and fresh.

Cocktails

Wakanda Tasting Lab – $30

A taste of cocktails developed by Wakanda Design Group mixologists, using ingredients cultivated on Mount Bashenga.

Flora Colossus Cooler – $12

Starr Rum 7 Years, Absinthe, Pineapple, Pandan, Coconut

A tall glass of light green beverage with a dried orange slice on top sits on the table, part of the exclusive Groot Remix Night menu, alongside utensils and another glass nearby.

The absinthe here takes over the whole aftertaste, bringing a very strong black licorice flavor. The tropical juice flavor on the front end is fine, but we’re not fans of the back end.

Rating out of 7: 5

The Most Dangerous Drink in the Galaxy – $12

Vusa Vodka, Midori, Sprite

A green cocktail from the Marvel Heroes Menu, garnished with a slice of dried citrus, elegantly sits in a geometric glass on the table.

This is basic, but we applaud the simplicity! We do wonder why this is called “The Most Dangerous Drink in the Galaxy” with just three ingredients.

Our cocktail only offered a splash of Sprite, and tasted more like Midori with a tiny bit of vodka. This is super drinkable, and we would drink this all cruise if we could.

Rating out of 7: 6

Zero-Proof

Quantum Core Sipper – $21 in souvenir Quantum Core Sipper

Vanilla Ice Cream, Simply Mango Pineapple, and Pop Rocks

This is an acceptable, enjoyable shake with mango and pineapple. It’s exactly what you’d expect. The Quantum Core sipper is also neat.

Rating out of 7: 4

Mango Milky Fizz – $6 or $21 in Milky Fizz Sipper

Raspberry, Mango, Vanilla, and Fruit Loops

After Dinner

Rum Mocha – $12

Illy Cold Brew, SelvaRey Chocolate Rum, and Kahlúa

Crème Brûlée Martini – $13.50

Grey Goose, Baileys, Disaronno, Monin Organic Caramel, and Half & Half

Overall Thoughts

While Groot may not be the strongest of Avengers in the food department, there were a few notable dishes that stood out among the bland fare on offer here.

It’s also worth mentioning that Worlds of Marvel will also offer the “Quantum Encounter” show featuring Ant-Man and The Wasp, though that menu was also largely a disappointment.

While the film portions of this dining experience can be fun, we can’t say we enjoyed our meal at Worlds of Marvel this time around.
