Universal did not state a reason for removing drones from the show but the decision is likely related to a drone accident in Orlando, Florida this weekend.

During a holiday drone show at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando, drones collided in the air and then fell into the crowd. 7-year-old Alezander was hit by one of the drones and had to undergo open-heart surgery. His family has started a GoFundMe.

Texas-based Sky Elements operates the drones used in the show. It was their second year contracted by the City of Orlando. The Orlando World Center Marriott canceled their holiday shows with Sky Elements following the incident. (via Click Orlando)

Though Universal was not involved in the Lake Eola incident, they likely decided to pause their use of drones while the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigate.

CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular will continue nightly performances with fireworks, water screens, projections, and music at Universal Studios Florida. Check the Universal Orlando Resort website or app for showtimes.

CineSational incorporates various classic and modern Universal films. It premiered this summer and added a Princess Peach drone sequence in November. Watch our video of the show below.
