BREAKING: Cannons Finally Firing Again on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland

The cannons of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland have finally been fixed, and are now fully operational once again.

Rise of the Resistance Cannons Firing Again at Disneyland

Scott Gustin reports that the cannons are moving and firing again as of Friday morning.

The ride has three cannons, which are supposed to move back and forth as they appear to fire blasts through the windows. Guests, in their prisoner transport vehicles, move back and forth, dodging the cannons as they fire and recoil.

Unfortunately, the cannons were deactivated years ago because they caused significant downtime for the very popular ride, leaving them standing still and guests dodging purely blasts of light.

The effects were turned off on both the Disneyland version and the Disney’s Hollywood Studios version to improve the attraction’s operational uptime. Supposedly, Disneyland Resort had figured out this fix some time ago, but it was held back because Walt Disney World did not wish to implement it. At this time, the effect is still not in operation at Walt Disney World.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in December 2019 and at Disneyland in January 2020. The two versions of the ride are identical — so have experienced identical issues. Another famous issue is with the Kylo Ren animatronics.
