Construction crews continue to make progress on the Universal Studios Store expansion. A roof overhang structure has been added to the building’s facade.
Universal Studios Store Expansion
The Universal Studios Store expansion takes the place of the former Cinnabon and Quiet Flight Surf Shop. The stores permanently closed in the spring of 2024 and were completely gutted soon after. By October 2024, crews had installed the framework of a new facade.
Our last update saw much of the existing framework filled in with plywood and black paneling. There was also another piece of framework that extended out from the roof.
Recently, we observed that more plywood was installed on the building’s facade covering the roof overhang’s framework. A crew member can be seen standing on the structure.
More yellow sheathing has been installed above the roof overhang. Additional crew members continue the construction progress. Many supplies and items sit behind the construction walls, including paneling that can be seen on the ground near the ladders, cinderblocks, wood slats, shovels, and paint buckets.
An awning has also been added above the elevator’s entrance. it continues to remain open and operational during construction.
To the left of the elevator, more plywood has been installed, with additional pieces sitting on the ground and leaning up against the building. An art panel that looks as though it is part of the construction wall is also there.
A sign has also been set up behind the walls noting the construction entrance. Different safety protocol is also posted to the sign, including “P.P.E. Required On Site,” “Authorized Personnel Only,” and “No Smoking.” To the left of the sign, insulation has also been installed on the wall.
Universal Orlando Resort announced the Universal Studios Store expansion in September 2024. It is set to include a new “Harry Potter” section offering Butterbeer, a new Super Nintendo World section, in addition to Epic Universe merchandise, which guests can currently find at the nearby Epic Universe preview center.
