Walls Go Up for Third Floor of New Disney Lakeshore Lodge

Crews have started to work on the third floor of Disney Lakeshore Lodge at Walt Disney World Resort.

Disney Lakeshore Lodge replaces the previously planned Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge. It’s under construction at the former River Country site near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. There are several cranes at the construction site. In this area, there isn’t significant structure work, just a lot of dirt piles.

Closer to Fort Wilderness, however, are three buildings, each at least one full story tall. Crews began to work on a second story a few weeks ago.

There are several columns of rebar around concrete walls. The rebar acts as a framework for future concrete. A crew member behind a barrier in the foreground gives a better sense of scale for this structure.

Around a copse of trees is a taller building. Here, the basic structure of the second floor is complete. It’s shorter than the first floor, which isn’t uncommon for hotels. A wall is already in place on the third floor, which is surrounded by temporary fencing and safety netting.

Behind the taller building is a single-story structure. The end of a crane was hanging in the area. Short concrete walls are on the ground.

Large dirt piles sit along the edge of the lake. The yellow barriers in the water keep construction debris from floating too far.

Disney has yet to release any concept art for Lakeshore Lodge, so it’s hard to say exactly what the final resort will look like, however, it will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.”

Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge was announced in 2018. The lobby would have had a Pocahontas statue. Some of the room concepts were inspired by “Bambi,” “Brother Bear,” “Fox and the Hound,” and “Pocahontas.” By 2020, Reflections was thought to be canceled but construction resumed at the site in November 2024. Disney then officially announced Disney Lakeshore Lodge.
