Steel girders have gone up as construction begins on the new Earl of Sandwich location in Downtown Disney District.

The construction is taking place behind multi-colored construction walls. Palm trees and the Pixar Place Hotel can be seen behind the walls in addition to the steel support beams.

In January of last year, Disney announced that a new, two-story location of Earl of Sandwich was coming with a quick-service shop on the ground level and a table-service option upstairs.

Later in 2024, concept art for the new restaurant was released in addition to more information. In addition to a light and airy Earl of Sandwich planned for the ground level, the second floor will be home to an all-new table service concept, The Carnaby Tavern.

The Carnaby Tavern is being designed as an homage to the swinging ‘60s “British Invasion” pop and rock bands from the U.K. The restaurant will feature a patio with an indoor/outdoor full-service bar.

Now that construction on the new location has begun, guests can prepare for the new experience by visiting the temporary locations at the Earl of Sandwich and Earl of Sandwich Tavern at the east side location or at the new pop-up pod near Star Wars Trading Post on the west end of the district.
Earl of Sandwich caters to many different tastes as they serve a “selection of signature hot sandwiches, pizza breads, soups, salads, sides, wraps and decadent desserts.” There are many locations around the United States including one in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World.
The Downtown Disney expansion does not stop at this new Earl of Sandwich Location. Future visitors can look forward to a mix of new shops, restaurants, and unique experiences, all designed to enhance the magic and charm that the Downtown Disney District is known for. These upcoming additions will not only provide fresh opportunities for shopping and dining but will also introduce innovative concepts that blend seamlessly with the atmosphere of the resort.
