Aerial photographer bioreconstruct has shared the latest photos of Epic Universe’s parking lot, which has now received several rows of shade via newly-installed solar panels.

The photos shared by bioreconstruct on X provide an updated look at the new parking lot located near the front entrance to Epic Universe. During our last construction update, the parking lot had received posts for some kind of structure, but we were not sure what that structure would be.

Now that construction has progressed, we can see the first rows of columns are now being used to support a section of solar panels. The panels are raised over the parking spots in this area of the parking lot like a sunshade

These solar panels can be used to collect energy for use in Epic Universe while also providing the cars in this section with some shade from the ever-bright Florida sun. The addition of solar panels in Epic Universe may also be a part of Universal Orlando Resort’s ongoing environmental-friendly initiatives. In February the resort debuted a new fleet of electric buses that will run the loop between Epic Universe and CityWalk.

So far, construction crew members have only installed the first two rows of solar panels. However, it appears the rest of this front section is expected to receive the panels, as the posts along the concrete are in place and the individual parking spots have yet to be painted.

This wider image shows the complete Epic Universe parking lot, with the darker solar panel sections in the center. While it may appear smaller in photos, the total parking lot size is approximately 40 acres. While not officially confirmed by Universal, some rumors suggest that these panel-covered parking rows may be a form of Prime Parking, since this section is close to both the main entrance and the central walkway.

Using solar panels in parking lots is not a completely new idea. While Walt Disney World does not utilize any solar panels in its parking lots, the large parking structure built for Disneyland Paris Cast Members in 2023 has a roof covered in solar panels. The parking lot at Legoland Florida Resort also utilizes a model where the Preferred Parking spots are covered by a solar canopy.
