One of the last remaining pieces of Amity Island at Universal Studios Florida is currently closed and under construction.
“Jaws” Bathroom Construction
Still known as the Amity Island or “Jaws” restrooms, the building sits between The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley and the Fear Factor stage. While the rest of Amity Island was demolished for construction of the “Harry Potter” island, the bathrooms remained. But the bathrooms are currently closed with construction walls encircling the building.
Most, if not all of the building’s brown siding has been removed, leaving black sheathing exposed. Plywood peeks out from the corners and under the sheathing. The roof remains intact with needles from nearby trees piled atop the shingles.
Signage has been torn down with the siding. It used to say “Village Circle Hall” on the gable above. The dark brown paneling and signs from above the restroom entrances are gone. The dark brown panel visible on the right is from a window frame.

The construction walls continue all the way around the trees and lampposts surrounding the building. When this area was the “Jaws”-themed Amity Island, the lampposts were white and adorned with patriotic 4th of July banners.
The restrooms building was once white, too, but the siding was painted dark brown when it became part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Amity Island closed in 2012 and Diagon Alley opened in 2014.

We don’t yet know the extend of this construction project. While these restrooms are closed, the closest are inside Diagon Alley or on the other side of Men in Black: Alien Attack.
Multiple Universal Orlando Resort restrooms have had interior or exterior refurbishments in the past few years.
