In an Instagram post, the drmarkatdisney account shared a photo of a Malayan great argus pheasant chick. The chicks and their mother can be seen by guests at the aviary on the Maharajah Jungle Trek at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

A large brown bird with red legs stands beside two Malayan Pheasant chicks, one of which has raised wings, on a sandy ground near green leaves.

According to Dr. Mark, Malayan great argus pheasant chicks are raised by the female pheasants and become independent “quickly”. The small brown chicks sport dark brown wing feathers and pink legs.

The Maharajah Jungle Trek offers guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom an opportunity to wander trails and encounter animals as varied as gibbons and komodo dragons. An aviary with over 50 species of birds is also along the trail. The attraction generally closes near dusk and nighttime access is unavailable.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom frequently welcomes newborns like the baby otters which arrived in January. The park is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and on staff veterinarians provide professional medical care for the animals. Open since 1998 and home to over 300 species, the theme park is also known for Pandora – World of Avatar and the Expedition Everest roller coaster.
