New ‘Alice in Wonderland’-Themed Photo Op at Disney Springs PhotoPass Studio

Guests visiting Disney Springs can have their photos taken at the new “Alice in Wonderland”-themed photo op in the Disney PhotoPass Studio.

The PhotoPass Studio is located between Marketplace Co-Op and Ghiradelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop. The studio is open daily from 11 a.m. to. 9 p.m. Guests can have their photos taken in front of themed backdrops and green screens and can then add their pictures to their PhotoPass account.

The Alice in Wonderland-themed backdrop features props and design elements depicted in the film.

The floor is a checkered black and white pattern. A brown chair sits on the left side of the backdrop. It has a green back to blend into the shrubs. A white fence sits behind the chair in front of the shrubs with the Mad Hatter’s green hat. Large clocks hang on the shrub wall along with red and white roses and arrow-shaped signs reading “This way” and “That way.”

The right side of the backdrop also features red and white roses with arrow-shaped signs that say “That way” and “Turn around.” An Ace of Spades Card Soldier prop stands against the shrub background.

Props are available to enhance the fantasy including a tea set and a bouquet of roses. Fans of Alice will immediately grasp the references to the mad tea party and the song “Painting the Roses Red” from the Disney film.

Alice In Wonderland was released in 1951 by Walt Disney Productions. Initially, the animated feature created a loss for Disney as low ticket sales led to a $1 million shortfall compared to the cost to produce and market. Re-released in later decades, Alice found a following and inspired a live action re-telling directed by Tim Burton in 2010 starring Johnny Depp and Anne Hathaway.

The Disney PhotoPass studio offers a changing set of backdrops for photos. Most recently, a holiday tree farm provided a setting for festive holiday pictures.
