The framework for an awning has been erected in the construction site of Woody’s Lunch Box at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Woody’s Lunch Box Construction
The new structure is next to the K’nex tower at the back of the quick-service venue’s seating area. The tower and surrounding land have been blocked by rolling planters and scrims for years.
Earlier this month, new red and blue vertical poles were installed. There are a few more poles now and a green roof frame connecting some of them. The poles are similar to the K’nex-inspired supports on the nearby tower.
The new structure is closer to the Woody’s Lunch Box cash wraps than the awning constructed three years ago. That awning was the first sign of an expanded, shaded seating area — but it has never been available to guests. Neither has the Cowboy Cookin’ Set building further back.
There are three poles not connected to the green frame, possibly for an extension of the future shade structure.
Black tubes and wires are wound up at the tops of each pole. These could be for future lighting.
Woody’s Lunch Box remains open during construction.
Lack of shade is a major criticism of Toy Story Land, which opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in June 2018. Woody’s Lunch Box was the only dining available in the land for some time, with limited seating in the sun. Roundup Rodeo BBQ, a table-service restaurant, opened in 2023.
