After permanently closing last year, Tortilla Jo’s at Downtown Disney District is now being demolished.

Though Tortilla Jo’s permanently closed in March 2024 and the Taqueria closed the following month, construction walls didn’t go up around the building until this month. Signs were previously removed but now other elements have been demolished. The straw awning above the front entrance is now black.

On the second-floor balcony, red panels have been removed from the fronts of two support pole bases. On the first floor, a shutter-like awning is gone from above a doorway.

The doors themselves have been torn out of the doorway, leaving an empty black frame. String lights still hang between the building and palm trees, over the former outdoor seating area. It looks like the interior has at least been partially gutted.

Crews have started tearing down a small roof near the corner of the building. It’s now just twisted steel and some black straw.

For comparison, below are two old pictures of Tortilla Jo’s.

Tortilla Jo’s and the Taqueria will be replaced by Arthur & Sons Steak and Bourbon, and Pearl’s Roadside BBQ. The former will be a classic steakhouse with a center bar while Pearl’s will be a quick-service eatery. The concept art for both eateries (below) shows how they will approximately fit into the Tortilla Jo’s space.

Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort has been undergoing an intensive reimagining for several years. The former ESPN Zone building is finally being transformed into a series of shops. The new Parkside Market, Disney Storyland Boutique, Disney Wonderful World of Sweets, D-Lander Shop, and Avengers Reserve all opened within the past few months.
