The town of Sweethaven in Universal Islands of Adventure is now blocked from guest access as Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges undergoes its annual refurbishment.

Construction walls and green scrim run behind the Popeye statue in the Toon Lagoon courtyard, blocking access to the ride and surrounding walkways. This also blocks access to Me Ship, The Olive, although the Universal Orlando Resort app does not indicate the water play area is closed.

Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges is a water raft ride. It usually closes for a few weeks at the start of each year for regular maintenance.

The refurbishment is scheduled through March 15, 2025.
