Roofing Partially Installed as Covered Seating Project Continues at Woody’s Lunch Box

Metal roofing tiles have been partially installed as the covered seating project continues at Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios.

Under a cloudy sky at an outdoor venue, colorful lights illuminate a structure resembling a toy set. Below, people gather near Woody's Lunch Box, enjoying the lively atmosphere under the covered seating area.

One of the main complaints about Toy Story Land has been the lack of shade and seating — especially in the area of Woody’s Lunch Box. Until Roundup Rodeo BBQ opened in 2023, Woody’s Lunch Box was the only dining venue in the land and had no covered seating.

Recently, work that began in January 2022 has continued with the addition of several poles in the area. We now know that these are, in fact, shade structures as roofing is being installed atop the poles.

The roof structure at Woody's Lunch Box is adorned with oversized holiday light bulbs and large toy blocks, all set against a backdrop of trees and a cloudy sky, providing a whimsical touch to the covered seating area.

While the roofing is still incomplete, there is exposed wiring visible leading us to believe that these shade structures will also have lighting and potentially fans to keep guests cool on hot Disney World days.

Although behind planter walls, it also appears that a third shade structure will be erected soon as poles similar to those already constructed are present. Having several shaded areas will provide even more seating for guests visiting Toy Story Land and Woody’s Lunch Box.

Toward the rear of the new structures sits an awning that was installed back in 2022 when the project first began. Everything in Toy Story Land is made to resemble toys and other objects, and this awning first just appeared to be a plain metal roof. However, with the new additions, it looks like the theming of the completed area will be up to snuff with the rest of the land.

The outdoor amusement park area features vibrant tables beneath strands of Christmas-style lights, with Woody's Lunch Box adding a touch of charm in the background. Visitors enjoy the playful atmosphere, even under a cloudy sky.

The new shade structures are blue and red and sit near other areas with toy blocks, toy soldiers, and lights strung throughout the area. More details could be added to increase the immersion as work continues, as well.

Woody’s Lunch Box has remained operational during the construction, so the temporary seating located just outside of the planter walls which separate the work from guest areas is necessary. Other temporary seating was located on the pathway between Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge. However, this was recently removed. Hopefully, this means we are getting closer to the completion of this project and having more shaded seating available at Woody’s Lunch Box.
