Universal Studios Japan Announces ‘Wicked’ Celebration with Film’s Japanese Release

Universal Studios Japan has announced a “Wicked” celebration coming to the park in honor of the country’s theatrical release of the film.

“Wicked” was released in the United States on November 22, 2024. However, its official Japanese release date is March 7, 2025. Universal Studios Japan plans to celebrate this release with meet and greets, special treats, exclusive merchandise, and a special costume exhibit.

Elphaba and Glinda Meet and Greet

Guests will be able to meet and take photos with Elphaba and Glinda during the celebration from March 7 to December 31, 2025. The pair of witches will be located outside the ride exit of the Hollywood Dream.

“Wicked” Churro

Guests can also try the new churro inspired by Elphaba and Glinda, featuring a peanut butter flavor which is a first-time flavor for the park. These will be available at the food cart in front of Universal Monsters Live: Rock and Roll Show.

Merchandise

All merchandise will be available at Universal Studio Select beginning on March 7.

Emerald City Tote Bag

A cream-colored tote bag with a green and pink jungle design, featuring black handles and a small attached charm, is artfully arranged on a light blue background with scattered pink flower petals, reminiscent of the enchanting scenery at Universal Studios Japan.

This tote bag showcases art from the Emerald City in greens, pinks, and golds standing out from a white canvas background. The bag has a black handle and features the keychain which is available for purchase separately.

“Wicked” Pouch and Stainless Tumbler

The pouch is decorated with the movie’s logo and other artwork from the film. The stainless steel tumbler features the logo, as well.

“Wicked” T-shirts

Two t-shirts will be available for purchase. The same design is featured on both tees. The logo and image of Elphaba and Glinda is shown in pink and green on a black or white shirt.

There is also a park exclusive long-sleeve t-shirt representing Emerald City artwork and a “Wicked” keychain.

Costume Exhibit

For a limited time, Universal Studios Japan will feature also feature a special exhibit showcasing replica costumes and props from “Wicked.” This exhibit will include the costumes of The Wizard of Oz and Madame Morrible.

In other “Wicked” news, Universal Destinations & Experiences is planning to add “Wicked” to their theme parks as more than just a themed shop.

In November, Universal Orlando Resort opened Wicked: The Experience. In addition to “Wicked” merchandise available for purchase, the store has props and costumes on display amid replicas of the film’s sets. Guests can sometimes meet Glinda and Elphaba.

Universal Studios Hollywood also offered “Wicked” experiences including merchandise, an Emerald City photo op, costume displays, and special food items.

Universal Studios Singapore went all in on “Wicked” with a small version of the Emerald City including replicas of The Hot Air Cafe Float on In and The Emerald Beautification Salon, meet and greets with the witches and The Wizard, Elphaba and Glinda makeovers, and more.

Universal Studios Japan’s celebration runs from March 7 to December 31 which will coincide with the release of “Wicked: For Good” in November.
