A monkey-like robot operates controls on a small platform, featuring intricate wires and a mechanical head with visible animatronics.

The tiny droidsmith made his appearance in the first portion of the session, focusing on Lucasfilm’s collaborations with Disney Experiences. He arrived riding in on top of a BDX droid. It is unclear if this animatronic will make its way to the parks, or will appear in “The Mandalorian & Grogu” in 2026.

Otto and Babu Frik belong to the Anzellan species, a small, skilled, and highly intelligent group of tinkerers known for their expertise in droidsmithing and mechanical repairs.

First introduced in “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and later seen in “The Mandalorian,” Anzellans are diminutive in stature but play a crucial role in the galaxy by modifying, hacking, and repairing droids with remarkable precision. They hail from the planet Anzellan, though they can be found working across the galaxy, particularly in bustling mechanics’ shops or alongside the Resistance and smugglers. Their language is a mix of Anzellan dialect and Galactic Basic, often delivered in a high-pitched and fast-paced manner.

BDX droids recently made their first appearance on the Disney Wish cruise ship. They will be visiting Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Walt Disney World later this year.
