Imagineering’s “Star Wars” BDX droids recently set sail aboard the Disney Wish. The official Disney Parks social media accounts shared a video.

In a futuristic room, two BDX Droids with flat, rectangular heads and wheels for feet stand side by side. One features green accents and the other pink, echoing a whimsical vibe reminiscent of a Star Wars adventure aboard the Disney Wish.

The BDX droids enjoyed the two Star Wars offerings on board the Disney Wish — Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge and Star Wars: Cargo Bay (part of the kids-only Oceaneer Club). Disney noted that this was a “once in a lifetime journey” and that the droids will not be part of regular sailings. The reason for their inclusion on this singular voyage is unclear.

The BDX droids have previously appeared at Disneyland in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. In 2024, they appeared daily during Season of the Force, a limited-time event featuring special Star Wars entertainment, food, and more. Season of the Force will return in 2025, but it has not been confirmed if the BDX droids will return to Batuu.

The BDX droids have earned the 2025 Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement – Technical Innovation.

The droids were created exclusively for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, though they draw inspiration from the BD explorer droids already seen in the universe (including BD-1, Cal Kestis’ droid from the “Star Wars Jedi” video game series and BD-72, Peli Motto’s droid from “The Book of Boba Fett.”) The BD explorer droids debuted in “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” in 2019.
