Construction walls are down from around The Plaza Restaurant at Magic Kingdom, although there are no signs refurbishment work was completed.
The Plaza Restaurant Refurbishment
Construction walls, followed by themed scrim, went up around the Main Street dining location in February. The themed scrim was removed a few days ago and now the construction walls are gone, fully revealing the restaurant once again. There are no major changes to the facade.
Flowers have not returned to the flower boxes on the corner of the restaurant. Plants remain in the brick planters around the ground floor. The walls may have received fresh paint but there are no noticeable color differences.
Despite the recent work, the black roof still looks faded and dirty. Though there’s furniture in the tower, these are just props and aren’t actually accessible to guests. Early during construction work, this furniture was removed and has since been replaced.

The exterior of The Plaza Restaurant was fully restored last fall. The construction these past few weeks may have been for small touch-ups.
There is some chipped yellow paint on this wall.
With the construction walls down, The Plaza Restaurant’s windows dedicated to Larry Slocum are visible again. Slocum is listed as the headmaster of the FPC Academy Featuring The Culinary Arts.
Slocum worked at Disneyland and then transferred to Walt Disney World for the resort’s 1971 opening. He retired in 1998, at which point his name was added to the window. Slocum passed away in January 2024.
Though the construction walls are done, the refurbishment of The Plaza Restaurant may not be complete. It’s possible the dirty rooftop and chipped paint will still be fixed in the coming days.
The Plaza Restaurant has remained open during construction.
