Disneyland Railroad Props Restored, Dinosaurs Operational, and Projections Fixed

In a recent wave of additional updates to the Disneyland Railroad, the Mardi Gras props have been restored to their proper place and several effects have been repaired.

Disneyland Railroad Repairs

Conducting the daily recap of magic, a conductor navigates a green and black Disneyland Railroad steam locomotive named "Fred Gurley," weaving through trees and track railing with grace.

The Disneyland Railroad recently resumed regular operations after its second multi-month refurbishment earlier this year. On the first day of resumed rides, however, several of the effects and some of the props from the attraction were still missing.

Colorful props, including large flowers and festive character busts, are displayed on a wooden platform with crates in front of a building marked "New Orleans Supply Company," where vibrant projections bring the scene to life.

We noticed the first changes on the leg from Main Street U.S.A.to New Orleans Square. To the right of the train, the props have now all been restored to the platform in front of the New Orleans Mardi Gras Supply Company facade.

A green building with a sign reading "Supply Company" stands beside a wooden deck, its blue door framed by lush trees and shrubs. The setting feels almost like a scene from the past where projections of dinosaurs or even the Disneyland Railroad could come to life.

When the railroad first reopened, the area was left completely empty and all of the props were missing, as shown in the above image from the reopening day.

Now, the props are stacked in front of the company doors once again. The props are supposed to be Mardi Gras supplies, so they include some large flowers like the ones attached to Mardi Gras floats and barrels piled with plastic beads.

The second recent change is the return of the projected effects to the Grand Canyon diorama. As you can see in our ride video of the Disneyland Railroad reopening last week, the Grand Canyon diorama was only a static scene with nothing in the sky. The projections have now been turned on, so it appears birds are flying in the distance.

A group of long-necked dinosaurs roams a prehistoric landscape, surrounded by dense vegetation and dark, cloudy skies, much like the vivid projections that bring ancient worlds to life.

The final change involves the large dinosaur animatronics seen in the Primeval World section between Tomorrowland and Main Street Station. When the railroad reopened, the heads of the dinosaurs were static. All of the dinosaurs are now moving again and will turn their heads as the train passes nearby.

A dramatic scene unfolds with a winged creature perched on a rocky ledge, enveloped by lush vegetation. The dark, moody setting conjures images of prehistoric times as if dinosaurs could emerge at any moment or projections cast enchanting illusions.

It appears several of these effects may not have been quite ready for the Disneyland Railroad’s posted reopening date, so they were held for a few more days even though the train had resumed operations. Disney has also announced the return of the Disneyland Railroad Guided Tour, with booking already open for tours starting March 21.

Are you glad too see more of the effects working as they should? Let us know in the comments.
