The Disneyland Railroad has reopened after being closed for its second round of refurbishment.

View from Main Street Station overlooking the Disneyland entrance with people walking under cloudy skies, trees, and vintage architecture in the background, as the Disneyland Railroad reopens after construction.

The railroad was previously closed in fall 2024 when Cast Members told us that was the first of four three-month refurbishments.

Work on Main Street Station has been complete, so this closure likely focused on track replacement. We did not notice any major changes on the leg from Main Street U.S.A.to New Orleans Square, although the Mardi Gras Supply props are now missing.

Brick pathway and ornate street lamp in front of a glass-roofed structure, surrounded by trees and a metal fence under a partly cloudy sky, hinting at the charm of the Disneyland Railroad before it reopens post-construction.

The New Orleans Square train station is a replica of a set from the 1948 Disney film “So Dear To My Heart.” The historic radio house that was part of the set caught fire in 2022, and underwent repair attempts before ultimately being demolished earlier this year.

A large crowd of people gathered in a theme park with trees and rock formations in the background under a blue sky as the Disneyland Railroad reopens to much fanfare.

When the Disneyland Railroad reopened last October, new narration mentioning Tiana’s Bayou Adventure near this station was revealed. The window looking into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was also opened and cavern lighting was restored.

We did not notice any changes on the stretch of track from Toontown to Tomorrowland, although we did get a good look at the work on “it’s a small world”  which will receive new magic for the  resort’s 70th anniversary.

Construction walls are also gone from the Tomorrowland train station, just as we noted in our last update when the railroad was testing. The station’s billboard has been repaired, with the images changing for the first time in recent memory.

While there were also no major changes on the last leg of the ride between Tomorrowland and Main Street Station, the projections and storm effects were non-operational in the Grand Canyon scene. The dinosaur animatronics were also stationary in the Primeval World section.

The brick building exterior, adorned with a sign reading "DISNEYLAND," boasts information about a bustling population (650,000,000) and elevation (138 feet). Under a clear blue sky, the Disneyland Railroad reopens, promising to enchant visitors once more.

The railroad was previously closed in fall 2024 and Cast Members told us that was the first of four three-month refurbishments. Crews are replacing a different section of train tracks during each closure. There will be two more phases later this year. However, for now, the guided tours will resume on March 21.

The Disneyland Railroad inspired similar railroad systems at other Disney castle parks. The original opened with Disneyland in 1955. It has four stations: Main Street, New Orleans Square, Mickey’s Toontown, and Tomorrowland. Its current engines are the C.K. Holliday, E.P. Ripley, Fred Gurley, Ernest S. Marsh, and Ward Kimball.
