John Leguizamo, the voice of Bruno from “Encanto,” says he’d “love to see a sequel” to the 2021 film.

John Leguizamo Teases “Encanto” Sequel

According to PEOPLE, Leguizamo said that he is “waiting for an ‘Encanto 2’ when all we do is talk about Bruno.” His comment refers to the fan-favorite song from the film, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.”

While Disney has not announced a sequel to the original film, Leguizamo commented, “I’m calling them every day saying ‘When is number 2 coming?’ They’re trying to come up with the storyline. They’re working on it.”

Encanto” debuted in theaters on November 21, 2021 and featured songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda, who has also written original songs for “Moana” and the live-action “The Little Mermaid.”

The song “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” became the highest-charting Disney song since 1995 when it reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song even ranked higher than the popular “Let It Go” from the 2013 film “Frozen,” which peaked at number 5.

Encanto” showcases the Madrigal family, who live in the mountains of Columbia in a magical house called Casita. Each family member has a unique gift except for one person, Mirabel, voiced by Stephanie Beatriz. When she realizes the magic that surrounds her home is in danger, she discovers she might be her family’s only hope.

“Encanto” also has an ever-growing presence at the Disney Parks. At Walt Disney World, guests can meet Mirabel in Magic Kingdom and see her with Bruno in the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade. Work has also begun on transforming the former Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama area into a new “Encanto” attraction, set to open in 2027. Guests can also see Bruno and Mirabel in the “¡Celebración Encanto!” show at EPCOT. The Madrigals will also appear in the upcoming “Disney Starlight” parade.

At Disneyland, guests have been able to meet Mirabel, Bruno, Isabela, and Luisa at various times since the film’s release. In 2024, a new “Mirabel’s Gifts of the Season” show debuted for the Disney Festival of Holidays at Disney California Adventure. “Encanto” will also be featured in the upcoming “World of Color Happiness” for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary.

At the international parks, Mirabel has appeared in the “A Million Splashes of Colour” parade and show at Disneyland Paris, as well as the “Disney Tales of Magic” nighttime spectacular. A new “Encanto” parade float of Casita featuring Mirabel, Isabela, and Luisa will debut in the “Friendtastic!” Parade as part of Hong Kong Disneyland’s 20th anniversary this year.
