Matthew Lillard Cast in Mysterious Role in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

Matthew Lillard has been cast in a mysterious, unannounced new role in Marvel’s upcoming “Daredevil: Born Again.”

The highly-anticipated “Daredevil: Born Again” premieres on Disney+ on March 4, 2025. The series is a follow-up to the 2015 Netflix MCU “Daredevil” series, with much of the cast returning, including Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin.

However, another familiar face is joining the cast in a mysterious new role. According to ComicBook.com, Matthew Lillard has been cast in an unannounced role. They are speculating that “given his history, it seems likely he will be a villain.”

He played a killer in both Scream and Five Nights at Freddy’s, it wouldn’t be surprising if he pops up as another one here. Some possible villains he could play are Mister Fear and Jester, particularly if he’s been somewhat type cast for the role. However, it’s entirely possible Lillard is just playing an ordinary guy in Daredevil: Born Again.

Lillard is also set to star in “Scream 7” and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 which is slated to premiere later this year.

The series went through a significant creative overhaul in 2023, after six out of 18 episodes had already been filmed. Filming was also suspended due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.

Dario Scardapane is the showrunner and an executive producer alongside Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Sana Amanat, Chris Gary, Christopher Ord, Matthew Corman, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead. Episode directors include Benson and Moorhead (“Moon Knight,” “Loki” season 2″), Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd.
