According to Variety, “Moana 2” has been streamed 27.3 million times after being on Disney+ for just five days.
“Moana 2” Reaches 27.3 Million Streams

“Moana 2” has become the third most successful Disney Animation theatrical film on Disney+. The first “Moana” film has accrued 1.4. billion hours streamed making it the most streamed film on Disney+.
The sequel was directed by Dana Ledoux Miller, David G. Derrick Jr., and Jason Hand. The music for the film was written by Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, replacing Lin-Manuel Miranda who wrote the songs for the first film.
Miller commented on her viewing experience of the film stating,
I had never walked into a Regal Cinema and heard the voices of my people before. And to have one of them be a Disney princess changes everything. It says, ‘It’s OK to be Polynesian and be strong and adventurous and funny.’ You see yourself reflected on screen and that’s powerful.

Originally “Moana 2” was set to be a Disney+ television show. After being turned into a film, it was released in theaters on November 28, 2024, and earned more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
The film takes place three years after the original film, reuniting Moana and Maui for “an expansive new voyage alongside a crew of unlikely seafarers.” Moana receives an unexpected call from her ancestors and must journey to the seas of Oceania where she faces dangerous long-lost waters and is met with an adventure that’s unlike anything she’s ever encountered before.
