Disney’s animated “Cinderella,” based on the Charles Perrault fairytale, premiered on February 15, 1950. It was directed by Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske, and Clyde Geronimi, with famous songs like “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” and “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo.” Walt Disney referred to Cinderella’s ball gown transformation, animated by Marc Davis, as one of his favorite pieces of animation.
Cinderella Castle was constructed as the park icons of both Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland. In 2015, Disney made a live-action “Cinderella” directed by Kenneth Branagh. In 2023, Disney+ released a 4K restoration of the animated movie.
