New rumors indicate that the Disney Jr. Dance Party! at Disney California Adventure may be closing for good.
Disney Jr. Dance Party Reportedly Closing
Per the Disneyland website, the last day of operations for the show is Sunday, March 23, 2025, citing showtimes of 10:15 am, 11:15 am, and 12:15 pm. Beginning March 24, no showtimes are available for the 30-minute show.
It is unknown if the show will be gone for good, receiving an overlay for the resort’s 70th anniversary celebration beginning May 16, 2025, or if something new will be added to the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land. However, the current iteration will cease as of March 24.
The Disney Jr. Dance Party! is targeted toward preschool-aged children who need to shake out some energy. Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, and even Mickey and Minnie from “Mickey and the Roadster Racers” show up to join the fun as DJ DeeJay and Finn Fiesta play popular songs from Disney Jr. shows.
The Disney Jr. Dance Party! show performers are unionized by the American Guild of Variety Actors (AGVA). Last year, stunt performers of the AGVA were cut from “The Amazing Spider-Man!” This change meant that no more rooftop stunts performed by a live actor would occur during the Spider-Man Stuntronic show at Disney California Adventure. Removing live performers from the show was reportedly due to budget cuts in anticipation of DisneylandForward spending.
Earlier in 2024, “Dr. Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts” in Avengers Campus closed, as well. Performances of “Warriors of Wakanda: The Disciplines of the Dora Milaje” and other Disney California Adventure entertainment offerings were also reduced.
Outside of Avenger’s Campus, the “Tale of the Lion King” show and Club Pixar met similar fates.
While not confirmed, the potential closure of the Disney Jr. Dance Party! could be due to the same budget cuts or the unionized nature of the entertainment offering.
Disney Jr. Dance Party! began on May 26th, 2017, replacing ‘Disney Junior: Live on Stage!’.
