‘Snow White’ Actor “Disappointed in the World” Over Downgraded Premiere of Film

A voice actor in the upcoming live-action “Snow White” film is disappointed in the downgraded premiere of the film.

We recently reported that Disney was going against the grain by avoiding a red carpet premiere in London in favor of a launch at a castle in Spain. Disney then announced that the film’s Hollywood premiere on March 15 will be much smaller than normal with a reduced crowd and limited media.

Martin Klebba, the voice of Grumpy the dwarf in the upcoming film, is disappointed in these decisions. However, according to Fox News, Klebba is not just disappointed in Disney, he is “disappointed in the world.”

He explains,

We’ve come to this place in society where people work really hard on this movie, where Marc [Webb], the director, is probably four years into putting this together, [along with] the producers and Disney, and just because a couple of people have views that not everybody feels the same way, now we’re having to alter the fun part of making a movie, which is premieres.

He continued by stating that while he is “bummed” about not being able to walk the red carpet with his co-stars, he understands that Disney has to be careful in today’s world amid backlash and anti-woke sentiments.

“Snow White” has faced controversy since its announcement, not only for being a live-action remake of a classic Disney film. Some took issue with the casting of Rachel Zegler, a Latina actress, as the titular character. As such, Snow White’s name has a new origin.

Rachel Zegler, adorned in a yellow dress, stands in a rustic wooden room with various furniture and decorations. Alongside her are seven short-statured individuals, each contributing to the unique backstory of this charming scene.

Peter Dinklage said he was “taken aback” by Disney being “proud to cast a Latino actress as Snow White” but still making a film with “dwarfs.” In response, Disney said they were taking a new approach to the Seven Dwarfs — but that doesn’t seem to have panned out. However, the film’s name was shortened to just “Snow White,” cutting out “the Seven Dwarfs.”

There was also outcry after Zegler called Disney’s 1937 animated film “dated” because the prince “stalks” Snow White. Prince Charming has been replaced with a different male lead.

“Snow White” will be in theaters on March 21. The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.

Disney World has released merchandise for the live-action remake, and several theaters have also revealed movie collectibles and merchandise.
