UPDATE: Family Suing Disney Over Cast Member Taking Upskirt Video of 14-Year-Old Girl

A family is suing Disney over a former cast member allegedly recording an upskirt video of a 14-year-old girl at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

In 2023, WDWNT reported on the arrest of Jorge Diaz Vega, who worked at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Vega admitted to secretly filming women at the park for six years, estimating he had over 500 videos on his phone. He was caught by another Cast Member when recording an 18-year-old woman.

According to WESH 2, the family of a younger teenage girl is suing Walt Disney World over Vega’s actions.

The 14-year-old victim was visiting the park with her grandmother from Michigan. She told investigators that Vega intentionally dropped a toy, and when he bent over to pick it up, he placed his phone under her dress to record.

The lawsuit states that when she realized what was happening, she “began hysterically crying and screaming, and the child ran into a nearby restroom and began dry-heaving, vomiting, and suffered a panic attack.”

Her family filed the lawsuit against Disney in Orange County on Friday, claiming the company did not do enough to protect her from Vega. According to the suit, he had previously been caught recording up the skirt of a female co-worker but kept his job.

The lawsuit accuses Disney and Vega of negligence, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. It states that Disney “deliberately engaged in outrageous misconduct by creating and allowing an environment to exist where an employee had the means and opportunity to secretly video-record the Plaintiff’s minor grandchild under the child’s dress.”

Vega faces two criminal cases for video voyeurism. His lawyer has asked a judge to declare him incompetent to stand trial. When arrested, Vega told authorities he had been diagnosed with a condition that was redacted from public records. The arrest report stated he “has no other diagnosis, takes no medications, and knows right from wrong.”

Disney did not immediately reply to WESH 2’s request for comment.
