If you’ve parked at the Transportation and Ticket Center outside Magic Kingdom in the past 5 or more years, you may have noticed a giant pile of dirt in the center of the parking lot. The patch of land once held trees, but these were cleared in late 2019.
The area became a large pile of dirt that remained mostly untouched, grass growing across it until last month — when the dirt pile began to be flattened.
Transportation and Ticket Center Construction
Crews continue to flatten the dirt. When we took these photos on April 8, there was an excavator on site, clearing dirt.
Now there’s a new pile of light-colored sand on site. Concrete barriers are stacked in front of a dirt pile nearby. Cones outline a path for construction vehicles.
Near the excavator, a roller was flattening the land.
The site is surrounded by a fence covered in green scrim.
The land may ultimately be paved and turned into more parking, expanding the large lot.
A couple of months ago, the Jafar section of the Transportation and Ticket Center parking was resurfaced and repainted.
The Transportation and Ticket Center mainly services Magic Kingdom, but guests can also catch a Monorail to EPCOT or nearby resorts. There is a walking path connecting the center to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Bus and boat transportation to other destinations is available directly outside of Magic Kingdom.
