A new article by Deadline has reported that Disney is planning to abandon the Fox Studios lot located in Los Angeles once its lease expires next March.

In a new article by Deadline, multiple sources have confirmed that Disney does not plan on continuing to occupy the Fox Studios lot on Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles. Despite Disney acquiring most of 21st Century Fox in 2019, Fox was allowed to retain the 53-acre property. Disney signed a lease to have certain teams based on the lot, and Disney is currently the largest tenant. Some other groups taking up space on the lot include Fox Sports, Fox Entertainment Group, and Tubi staff.

The Fox Studios Lot has been a staple of Los Angeles for many years, as it was the home of classic films like “The Sound of Music” and “Miracle on 34th Street.” More recently, the lot was used for shooting multiple ABC series including “Modern Family” and “Fresh Off the Boat.”

Disney’s current plan is to vacate the lot by the end of 2025, even though the official lease does not expire until March of 2026. The Disney team still working from the Fox property will be relocated to the main Disney hub in Burbank by the end of the year. Plans for the Disney projects that currently film at the lot are unknown.

While not confirmed, Deadline mentions that multiple parties have expressed interest in Disney’s section of the Fox property. It is possible Disney’s space could be leased to a new tenant in the near future.
