The live-action remake of Disney’s “Tangled” is reportedly on hold.
Live-Action ‘Tangled’ Paused
According to Variety, sources state the film was in active development but is now on an indefinite hold. Variety says Michael Gracey (“The Greatest Showman”) was attached to direct and Kaytin Robinson (“Thor: Love and Thunder”) was writing the script. Deadline says Disney was already meeting with potential stars.
When we first reported on the live-action “Tangled” remake five years ago, Ashleigh Powell (“The Nutcracker and the Four Realms”) was reportedly attached to write the script.
Disney is pausing the project amid a disappointing box office for their live-action “Snow White.” The remake has only grossed $69 million domestically and $145 million worldwide.

The original animated “Tangled” was released in 2010 and made $600 million worldwide. It also inspired a popular attraction at Tokyo DisneySea, Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival.
