Quark’s Cafe Decor

Quark’s Cafe is based on the character Quark from “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.” On the Deep Space 9 station, Quark owned a dining establishment that was officially called Quark’s Bar, Grill, Gaming House and Holosuite Arcade. The location was usually just shortened to Quark’s or Quark’s Bar. For Universal Fan Fest Nights, the name of Quark’s Cafe was added as a overlay to the ordering stations in Hollywood & Dine. The geometric design of the sign is a reference to the walls of Quark’s Bar in the show, which had a large mural with the same image. A pick up sign with matching yellow, green, and red colors was added above the counter.

Framed photos of Star Trek characters hang in a hallway at Quark's Cafe, above tiled flooring and decorative trim.

The walls to the side of the location have been decorated with hanging pictures of Quark in silver frames.

One image shows Quark sitting inside his bar during a “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” episode. This image is specifically from the season 5 episode “Trials and Tribble-ations,” which brought back the Tribbles from the original series.

Behind the ordering counter, shelves against the wall have been decorated with multicolored bottles meant to look like alcoholic beverage bottles and some Star Trek props. The items include a Phaser, puff balls meant to be Tribbles, and more framed pictures of Quark.

The screen on the right that shows orders ready for pickup has a futuristic-style silver frame instead of its usual Hollywood & Dine design.

The shelf on this right side also has more bottles and props. The image on this side shows Morn, a character from the series who was considered one of the most frequent customers at Quark’s Bar.

Food Reviews

Kingon Bloodwine – $22

Cabernet Sauvignon

A hand at Quark's Cafe holds a clear cup of red wine over a table at Universal Fan Fest Nights.

The Team Member inside the restaurant informed us this is the same Klingon Bloodwine drink sold online by Star Trek Wines. This is a solid red wine for a theme park event. The price is a little expensive, but not unexpected for a theme park alcoholic beverage.

Klingon Targ Legs – $16.99

Charsui honey pork wings served with kimchi fried rice

Black plate with reddish rice, glazed meat, and green onions—exclusive at Quark's Cafe for Universal Fan Fest Nights.

The meat came right off the bone using a fork. The pork is absolutely phenomenal, we loved the flavor of the sticky sweet glaze. The kimchi fried rice was only okay. The spice level of the rice was great, but the texture was very mushy. We would give this a perfect score if the rice was cooked a little better.

Tribble Truffle Trio – $6.99

A trio of truffles topped with coconut (white chocolate, chocolate, and butterscotch)

A hand holds dessert balls at Quark's Cafe, perfect for Universal Fan Fest Nights and Star Trek fans alike.

Each flavored truffle is a different color to make the flavors more apparent. The darkest brown color is chocolate, the white is white chocolate, and the lighter brown color is butterscotch. While described on the menu as truffles, we felt they were closer to a ball of fudge coated in coconut.

The inside of the brown truffle tastes just like a malted milk ball candy surrounded by a shell of darker chocolate. The butterscotch truffle also has the milk ball center, but it tastes very similar to the Butterbeer desserts from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We thought the butterscotch was so rich and sweet that it was a little overwhelming. The white chocolate has another milk ball center, but the chocolate shell just tasted old and fake. We would get the first two again, but definitely not the white chocolate.

Cardassian Dog – $15.99

Hot Cheeto covered Korean-style Corn Dog with Yamok sauce, made with smoked gouda, nacho cheese, gochujang, and jalapenos

Yamok sauce is an in-universe Star Trek condiment commonly consumed by Cardassians. The breading on our dog was definitely overcooked, making it tough and difficult to bite. The Hot Cheeto flavor comes through, but Cheeto on a slightly burnt corn dog is still not a great combination. The sauce mostly tasted like melted cheese. Ours also came some some thick-cut fries that were not listed in the menu.

Orion Spice Funnel Cake – $13.99

Matcha dusted funnel cake topped with matcha icing, whipped cream, and Orion spice crumble

A funnel cake from Quark's Cafe topped with whipped cream, nuts, and a greenish drizzle on a black plate.

The texture was very crispy and crunchy, and the interior was still warm. While not listed on the menu, there was a heavy coating of cinnamon sugar over the top. The matcha flavor is slight and not overpowering, plus the whipped cream adds a nice sweetness. As long as you get a fresh funnel cake that is still warm, this is excellent. Plus, the portion is large enough for sharing.
